Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. has an opening for an NDE Level I Examiner.

An NDE Level I Examiner is an entry-level individual who will receive specific training leading to Level I certification.

Primary Responsibilities:

This role will be responsible for conducting nondestructive examinations (NDE) to assess the condition of critical industrial components. 

Key Attributes:

  • Participates in minimal business development activities and takes the initiative to become familiar with SIA’s various business units and product offerings

Technical Understanding

  • Has a sense for mechanical concepts and spatial relationships
  • Has an understanding of the basic physical NDE principles and processes
  • Understands fundamental algebra and trigonometry
  • Able to read, comprehend and/or prepare technical specifications and procedures
  • Qualified to perform specific calibrations and tests, and acceptance or rejection determinations allow little or no deviation from the procedure.
  • Works under close supervision and direction of a higher-level tester. Level I Limited personnel are restricted in what they can do and are usually trained to a specific procedure, and can perform only certain types of inspections on a certain set of components.

  • Willing to work in extreme environments;
  • Willing to accept extensive travel assignments; acceptable to extended work hours/days/weeks
  • Flexible to the dynamics of client scheduling
  • Safety conscience and compliant with written procedures and quality practices.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalency with secondary education leading toward an AS/BS in science, materials, or engineering
  • Individuals must successfully complete the required training and secure NDE certification in no less than two (2) surface methods (VT, MT, or PT) and the UT method within 12 months.

Work Environment:

  • Willing to conduct assignments in an environment of less than favorable conditions, including dirty or radiological environments and physically challenging conditions (heat, cold or physical activities such as climbing or carrying equipment)
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain focus in hazardous industrial environments such as at heights, on scaffolds and picks, in noisy locations, with operating machinery nearby or overhead, and with dangerous activities occurring nearby (welding, grinding, flame cutting, overhead loads, etc.)
