Structural Integrity Associates (SIA) is seeking an experienced Cathodic Protection (CP) Specialist/Corrosion Control Engineer in our Denver, Colorado office. Remote of other office locations (San Jose, CA, Charlotte, NC) may be considered.
This position will primarily support CP activities within our Nuclear division but will also assist SIA’s Pipeline Integrity & Compliance (oil and gas), and Critical Infrastructure divisions on select CP and/or asset integrity projects. This position requires excellent project management and communication skills and the ability to interface with client personnel to conduct complex onsite projects and drive new business. A majority of the expected work in this position is related to CP projects, however SIA has a team of individuals with diverse skillsets that help to manage aging assets across entire plant sites. This position will become a part of that team and have opportunities to support departments and projects that are not directly CP related. Other projects may include site environmental and corrosivity studies, internal corrosion assessments, non-destructive examination (NDE), asset Life Cycle Management, fatigue/vibration assessments, and software development.

Pay Range:
The expected salary range for this role in Denver, Colorado is $109,800-137,200 annually. Exact pay will commensurate with experience and location.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and support installation of cathodic protection systems for plant environments with complex underground piping networks
- Provide technical and regulatory consultation for Nuclear and other industrial facilities and prepare relevant documentation (e.g., formal report, position paper, white paper, etc.)
- Direct, manage, and oversee (on-site or remote) CP installation activities at Nuclear and other industrial facilities
- Provide CP system commissioning, testing, and maintenance
- Provide material selection and review for various industrial applications
- Conduct specialized corrosion/cathodic protection surveys; analyze data, and report results
- Assess and troubleshoot existing CP systems; recommend repairs and/or improvements
- Assist with corrosion modeling and assessment support, including environmental corrosivity studies
- Develop proposals for CP-related work in close coordination with SI’s product/client manager(s)
- Provide technical training for SI personnel and SI’s clients
- Support and/or present industry meetings on CP best practices and new methodologies
- Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of SI”s CP management applications
- 25%-40% travel, typically in one to two-week intervals with potential for longer term assignments
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- MUST be minimum NACE-certified CP Level III (Technologist) on path to CP Level IV (Specialist) within 1-3 years.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in the field of cathodic protection including testing, design, modeling, etc.
- 5+ years of experience in managing construction projects
- 5+ years field experience in cathodic protection testing and troubleshooting inducing CIPS/DCVG surveys
- Ability to grasp and tackle complex assignments
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
- Must be a self-starter, able to think and work independently, and budget time among multiple tasks
- Must be willing and able to pass extensive background checks for un-escorted access to US nuclear facilities (includes submitting to and passing drug screening at the client’s discretion)
- Proficiency with Microsoft office applications.
- Proficiency with Geographic Information System (GIS) hardware and software
Desired Skills/Qualifications:
- Ideal candidate has both an Engineering degree in related field along with the required NACE credentials, PE desirable
- CP design and installation experience in complex plant environments highly desired.
- Preferred CP experience includes applications for petroleum (e.g., pipelines and tanks), power industry, civil/structural (e.g., roads and bridges, concrete reinforcing steel), and/or water/wastewater (e.g., pipelines and tanks)
- Experience with onsite management of complex projects highly desired
- Previous experience with client-facing sales and business development interactions is a plus
- Programming proficiency desirable
