Description:
A NDE Level II Examiner is an individual who has industry experience and has secured and maintained NDE LII certification in at least one surface examination method (MT, PT or ET) and one volumetric examination method (UT or ET). Additional training and/or certification in other methods may be provided to satisfy SI core competencies and meet customer expectations.
Primary Responsibilities:
This position is for someone wanting to be part of the fast-paced and growing field of providing specialized Turbine & Generator nondestructive examinations (NDE) to clients using various methods. This person will join a group of highly specialized technicians responsible for combining NDE and engineering support to assess the condition of critical rotating equipment and associated components. Experience in phased array UT, Automated UT (AUT), or Gas Turbine NDE is a plus. Experience working at nuclear utilities is also a plus.

Technical Understanding:

- Has a strong understanding of the basic physical NDE principles and processes and is competent in advanced technologies,
- Able to set up and calibrate equipment, conduct the inspection according to procedures, interpret, evaluate, and document results in all the testing method(s) utilized by the certificate holder,
- Provides on the job training to entry-level technicians and performs as a supervisor,
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalency required, with secondary education leading toward an AS/BS in science, materials, or engineering considered desirable,
- 4+ years of industry-related experience as a Level II NDE examiner or 2+ years of experience with AS or BS degree,
- Can secure Level II NDE certification in at least one (1) surface method (MT or PT) during onboarding, and at least one (1) volumetric (UT or ET) NDE method within six (6) months,
Work Environment:
- Willing to conduct assignments in environments of less than favorable conditions, including dirty or radiological environments, and challenging conditions (heat, cold, physically demanding),
- Demonstrate ability to maintain focus in hazardous industrial environments such as working in noisy locations, working near operating machinery, and with industrial activities occurring nearby (Grit Blasting, welding, grinding, overhead loads, etc.)
- Experience working in power plant environments is preferred.
